Car porch awning
The front of the house is where the awning is judged. Three materials work: glass for light, ACP for a flat modern roof, PU metal for heat. We do not install polycarbonate or zinc.
A car porch awning in Malaysia costs RM 10,500 – 13,500 in ACP, RM 7,000 – 11,500 in PU metal, or RM 16,000 – 24,000 in glass for a standard 20 ft × 10 ft (200 sq ft) porch, installed. Posts, extra height and council drawings add to the base.
Choose the material
Structure
- Wall-mounted cantilever to about 6 ft; beyond that, one or two slim posts at the gate line
- Steel primary beam galvanised and painted, or full aluminium
- Height set so the autogate and a tall SUV clear comfortably
Details that matter
- Concealed gutter at the front, downpipe inside the post
- Fall away from the house wall
- Flashing sealed into the wall, not just siliconed on
- Downlights and a ceiling fan point wired before the ceiling closes
Approvals
Landed houses in KL, PJ and Shah Alam normally need a council submission for a porch extension. We prepare the drawing. Gated communities need management sign-off as well.

How much does a car porch awning cost in Malaysia?
RM 7,000 – 24,000 for a standard 200 sq ft porch depending on material: PU metal at the low end, ACP in the middle, glass at the top. Posts, height and council drawings add to that.
Can a car porch awning be built without posts?
Yes up to about 6 ft of projection with an aluminium or steel cantilever. A full 10 ft porch usually needs one post at each front corner or a heavier steel beam.

PU metal, then ACP with a strip ceiling, then tinted laminated glass. Clear glass and polycarbonate are the hottest.
