Aluminium composite panel on a steel or aluminium frame. A flat, solid, modern roof that blocks heat completely and matches the lines of a contemporary house.
An ACP awning in Malaysia costs about RM 52 – 68 per sq ft installed with a 4 mm PVDF panel and concealed gutter. A 20 ft × 10 ft car porch is roughly RM 10,500 – 13,500. Cheaper RM 17 – 25 per sq ft quotes usually mean 3 mm PE-coated panels and an exposed gutter.
Panel
- 4 mm aluminium composite panel with PVDF coating: colour holds for 15+ years
- 3 mm PE panels are cheaper and chalk within a few years in direct sun. We do not use them

Frame and ceiling
- Hollow-section steel primary beam, hot-dip galvanised and painted, or full aluminium
- Aluminium strip ceiling underneath hides the frame and gives a finished soffit
- Optional downlights wired through the ceiling
Drainage
- Concealed box gutter in the front fascia
- Downpipe inside the post or against the wall
- Fall set in the drawing; ACP is flat so the fall is built into the frame

- Car porch extension on a terrace or semi-D
- Side and back extensions on a link house
- Anywhere the roof must block heat completely

Questions people ask
Which is better, metal deck PU foam or ACP?
ACP looks better and stays flat and quiet; PU metal insulates better and costs a little less. For a front car porch where the roof is seen, ACP. For a back kitchen or drying area where heat matters more than looks, PU metal. Both block light completely.
What is the price of an ACP awning per sq ft in Malaysia?

Does an ACP awning get hot underneath?
Less than zinc or polycarbonate, but it is a thin panel. Adding the aluminium strip ceiling creates an air gap that makes a noticeable difference. For maximum insulation, choose PU metal instead.
Is ACP noisy in the rain?
No. ACP is a sandwich of aluminium and a polymer core, so it does not drum like a zinc sheet.
